Debates are fun, debates about whether or not Iraq is Persia are not.
From Wikipedia:
"The Persian empire has become as what we know today as Iran."
Sorry Joey. I didn't particular have an opinion on the debate, but I did have enough curiosity to spend five seconds looking it up.

Nothing like a good old fashion argument between drunk Steve, Joe & John....Gotta love it! Jeff, you missed some good entertainment!
Oh no, that was Major and Joe. I couldn't care less about Persia.
"Under the Persian Sassanid dynasty, there was a region called "Erak Arabi" referring to part of the south western region of the Persian Empire, which now is part of southern Iraq. Al-Iraq was the name used by the Arabs themselves for the land since the 6th century."
i will concede ignorance on this subject. Iraq was originally mesopotamia before becoming part of the persian empire, which as we all know (damn) is modern day iran. you can see my confusion and i fully admit my stupidity, and will never, ever discuss this subject while drinking again. (this is probably not true, but i hope it to be...)
i guess it would be like calling maine "massachusetts," which unfortunately was the truth at one point... ok, im done...
